If you’re going to work from home, having a home office is important! Like the most important thing to your success. Just because you don’t have to go into an actual office every day doesn’t mean you don’t need a designated work space.
Don’t worry. You’re not just a glorified tattle tale. Take it from me, mystery shoppers can often feel that way especially when they are writing a report on someone who provided a subpar experience. But companies don’t just use mystery shoppers so that they can catch their leasing agents making mistakes on the job.
It’s true, we’re all actors in some respect. We “act” a certain way on the job, we “act” a certain way at home and even another way when we’re in public. While the root of all this action is hopefully including remaining true to who you are as an individual, we are all expected to “act” a certain way.

Mystery Shopping is a great way to make some part-time money on your own schedule, especially for college students. Check out how mystery shopping fits into college life. The set pay for each mystery shop you choose to conduct will vary, but here are some good examples.
As a mystery shopper, you are an independent contractor and not an employee of the mystery shopping companies you provide services to. As an independent contractor, the companies you provide services to are not required to withhold taxes from your compensation. They do not pay unemployment insurance, workers compensation insurance, or take social security withholdings on your earnings. You are not eligible to receive any tax-free benefits from the company.
